Self-Reflection in Theater

Self-Reflection in Theater

This is a successful year for me in Theater Class. From the very beginning of singing songs and practicing tongue twister to end up with reciting long lines in Macbeth and acting to the RAs and teachers. I learned a lot in this class about pronunciations and learned to pay attention to the grammar in speaking English. I used to hate this class and think this class is boring. I changed my mind in Quint 2 and I felt that this class was also important and I spent more time practicing pronunciations after class. In Quint 2, I recited the poem Entrepreneur’s Credo of the American. I had liked that poem for several years but I had never had time to recite it. Thank for the class, I finally had a chance to do it. In Quint 3, we made a video and it was fun and busy to make it, because I had to watch more than 500 short videos to cut out the special effects and spent dozens of hours to put the BGMs, lines, and special effects together. In Quint 4, we acted short scenes and I really enjoyed feeling the characters’ emotions and acted it out in my own understanding. By the way, in the scene Odd Couples, I didn’t choose the character that I used to be in life. I’m not dirty at all in life. In fact, I’m the one who cleans the room all the time. For this Quint, the Macbeth is definitely a great play to act and I enjoy to act Macbeth. The soliloquy has so many layers in it and I’m so surprise that I can do that really well too. I haven’t thought of keep acting before, but now, as Ellen says, I am thinking of it now. Just think how fun it was this year and the great feeling on the stage when I acted. I would say why not keep acting? I enjoy it! In the end, thank you Ellen for this wonderful year and I really enjoy to be in your class. Hope you will give your great class to all the freshman next year and make them feel happy.
